Our recommendations for a high performance set-up are as follows:
-
Multi-core CPU:
The use of more than two CPU-cores will not generally speed up operation. However, more recent versions of CROSSCAP (as of late 2021) will allow
Threading, during batch finalization. Therefore, having more than two CPU-cores may speed up batch finalization, however, it will not improve scanning performance.
-
Highest possible clock rate (> 3 Ghz) per core:
During scanning, it is the maximum single-core clock rate which limits throughput.
-
8 GB RAM:
A maximum of 4 Gbyte will be used by CROSSCAP.
-
SSD system drive:
CROSSCAP executables should be installed on an SSD ...
-
> 500 GB free space on another SSD or another SSD-partition:
This is where temporary batches should be stored. By default, CROSSCAP will use the drive it was installed on. However, you may easily change this setting, see chapter
Program settings, section
Directories.
-
We recommend using Windows 10 or Windows 11.
